Cole Custer Secures 11th Place Finish in Cup Series Race at WWTR.

MADISON, IL (September 13, 2026) – After battling through a chaotic race that featured a season-high 19 cautions, Cole Custer charged from 26th to grab an 11th-place finish at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR) on Sunday, earning the No. 41 team’s second-best result of the 2026 season.

Making his third Cup Series start at WWTR, Cole Custer rolled off 26th in the No. 41 Haas/Bonanza Wines Chevrolet. With four single-car spins bringing out cautions in the opening 30 laps, Custer made his first pit stop on lap 28. He was able to use the fresh tires to climb to 22nd over the closing laps of the segment before settling back into 26th by the end of Stage One.

Custer gained significant track position under the stage caution, moving up to 10th and climbing as high as seventh before the tire disadvantage shuffled him back outside the top 10. A lap 65 caution allowed Custer to pit and improve the No. 41 Haas/Bonanza Wines Chevrolet’s handling, but he battled a loose condition through the longest green-flag run of the race and held 25th as another yellow ended Stage Two early.

The team continued to make adjustments aimed to improve the car’s handling during the stage break, with Custer cycling back to 27th for the start of the final segment. A series of early cautions provided more opportunities to work on the No. 41 Haas/Bonanza Wines Chevrolet, and Custer restarted 16th after with just under 100 laps remaining. Despite losing ground on the restart, he stayed out of trouble as the race produced a season-high 19 cautions, gaining several positions through the closing laps. Running strong on the top lane during the second overtime, Custer charged to an 11th-place finish, earning the No. 41 team’s second-best result of the 2026 season.

“It was a solid day at WWTR for us. The short track package for our team has been really tough this year, so for us, that was definitely a good result,” Custer said. “Our guys worked at it all day, and hopefully we found something that we can take with us in the future. It was awesome having Bonanza Wines on our car this weekend, and a huge thank you to everyone back at the engine shop.”
