Sheldon Creed Extends Points Lead at Las Vegas, Sam Mayer Earns Fourth Straight Top-10 Finish.

By Haas Factory Team

LAS VEGAS, NV (October 3, 2026) – Sheldon Creed extended his NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series points lead to 19 points with a 13th-place result on Saturday night at Las Vegas, while Sam Mayer earned his fourth consecutive top-10 finish to open the Chase with a sixth-place run.

00 Sheldon Creed:

Entering the weekend as the points leader, Sheldon Creed rolled off second following a strong qualifying effort Saturday afternoon. After finishing third at the track in the spring, Creed wasted little time moving forward in his No. 00 Road Ranger Chevrolet, taking the lead at the end of the opening lap. As the run stretched on, however, Creed struggled to maintain the pace and slipped outside stage points, finishing Stage One in 14th.

Creed started Stage Two from 13th in his No. 00 Road Ranger Chevrolet and capitalized on a caution involving two Chase drivers, moving to 10th for the lap-63 restart. He gained three positions on the ensuing restart to reach seventh before once again losing ground as the stage progressed, finishing outside the top 10 for stage points for the second straight segment.

After a pair of penalties moved Creed up to 14th for the final-stage restart, he attempted to make the outside line work but was unable to gain ground in his No. 00 Road Ranger Chevrolet. As green-flag pit stops cycled through the field, Creed climbed to seventh before making his stop on lap 144. He remained on the lead lap through the finish, crossing the line 13th and maintaining the points lead heading to Charlotte with a 19-point advantage.

“Obviously we qualified well and got the lead early, and I felt good leading there the first six or seven laps. However, as the run wore on, I would get loose and then tight on top of that. We just ran out of grip really every run," Creed said. “I just struggled tonight in my Road Ranger Chevrolet, but I appreciate Hendrick Engines, Ollies, Boulder Crest and Chevrolet. Everyone at Haas Factory Team just battled it out all night. We fortunately didn’t lose too many points, and we’ll just move on to Charlotte next weekend.”

41 Sam Mayer:

Opening the Chase with three consecutive top-10 finishes, Sam Mayer continued his recent momentum by starting eighth. The No. 41 Starkey Chevrolet quickly moved forward on the outside lane, breaking into the top five from the drop of the green flag. Mayer continued to climb while managing his tires, reaching second by the end of Stage One and earning nine valuable stage points.

Mayer exited pit road fourth and wasted no time moving into the lead in the second stage, taking the top spot in the opening corner and holding it through the first caution. After clearing the No. 88 on the restart, Mayer held off Rajah Caruth and Corey Day in his No. 41 Starkey Chevrolet before pulling away during the green-flag run. Despite a late challenge, Mayer secured his second stage win of the season and added 10 more stage points.

A pit-road penalty for an uncontrolled tire sent Mayer to the rear for the start of the final stage, but the No. 41 Starkey Chevrolet quickly regained ground. Mayer climbed as high as eighth before making his green-flag pit stop on lap 143 and cycled into sixth as stops worked through the field. He maintained his position through the closing laps to finish sixth, earning his fourth consecutive top-10 finish in the Chase.
