Sam Mayer and Sheldon Creed Earn Top-10 Finishes in O’Reilly Series at Sonoma.

SONOMA, CA (June 27, 2026) –

Haas Factory Team put both of its cars inside the top 10 at Sonoma Raceway on Saturday afternoon, as Sam Mayer overcame balance issues and used strategy to finish eighth while Sheldon Creed’s late-race charge delivered his third straight top-10 finish.

41 Sam Mayer:

Continuing his qualifying success at Sonoma, Sam Mayer earned his fourth consecutive top-10 starting spot at the road course after qualifying ninth in his No. 41 Audibel Chevrolet. The race began with an early caution for a runaway tire that disrupted the opening run, and Mayer slipped to 13th while battling a tight-handling race car. Despite the setback, he was able to recover ground before making a green-flag pit stop to flip the opening stage.

As pit strategy cycled through, Mayer restarted Stage Two in eighth and quickly moved forward in his No. 41 Audibel Chevrolet. He passed teammate Sheldon Creed, avoided a spinning Justin Allgaier, and moved into third with a decisive pass on Harrison Burton. Mayer remained in the lead group throughout the stage and crossed the line sixth, collecting five stage points after several leaders elected to pit ahead of the stage break.

Starting the final stage from 15th, Mayer steadily worked his way back into contention during the race's longest green-flag run. After breaking into the top 10 with a pass on Creed, Mayer capitalized on two cars that ran out of fuel in the closing laps to finish eighth, earning his fourth top-10 finish in four O’Reilly Series starts at Sonoma.

“We did a good job of executing with what we had. Our Audibel Chevrolet struggled a bit on the balance side of things, and we needed a little bit more to keep up with those top guys,” Mayer said. “I’m super proud of all our guys for sticking with it all day and thank you to Audibel and Chevrolet for being with me.”

00 Sheldon Creed:

Sheldon Creed qualified 11th on Friday afternoon in his No. 00 Pit Boss Chevrolet, lining up just behind Haas Factory Team teammate Sam Mayer. Focused on managing his tire wear through the opening stage, Creed maintained his position before making a green-flag pit stop to flip the stage in hopes of gaining track position for the remainder of the race.

The strategy paid off to begin Stage Two, as Creed restarted sixth and remained firmly inside the top 10 while avoiding contact from a charging Justin Allgaier on the opening lap. He stayed out during the caution on lap 30 which allowed the No. 00 to gain valuable track position. As several leaders hit pit road before the stage finish, Creed climbed to third by the end of Stage Two to collect eight stage points.

Following a pit stop under the stage caution, Creed restarted 14th for the final stage and steadily worked his way back toward the front during the final green-flag run. The No. 00 hovered just outside the top 10 before capitalizing on a late-race issue for Taylor Gray in the closing laps, crossing the line in 10th to secure his third consecutive top-10 finish dating back to Pocono.

“We were a little too tight and didn’t have enough drive on exit, but we got some decent stage points. I didn’t do a great job managing those tires that last run, but it was good to salvage another top 10 as we keep chipping away at this points battle” Creed said. “Thank you to Pit Boss, Chevrolet, Road Ranger and Ollie’s for their support all season long.”
