Sheldon Creed Finishes Third in First Ever O’Reilly Series Race at Naval Base Coronado.

SAN DIEGO, CA (June 20, 2026) –

Sheldon Creed and Sam Mayer both showed race-winning speed on Saturday, running inside the top five for much of the inaugural at Naval Base Coronado in the O’Reilly Series. Creed brought home a third-place finish in the No. 00 Boulder Crest Chevrolet, while Mayer’s strong run in the No. 41 Audibel Chevrolet ended after an accident on a lap-35 restart in the final stage.

00 Sheldon Creed

Sheldon Creed earned a third-place finish in Saturday’s O’Reilly Series race at Naval Base Coronado, delivering a strong run in the No. 00 Boulder Crest Chevrolet after running up front all afternoon. He started seventh and held steady inside the top 10 throughout Stage One despite an early caution and red flag for wall repairs. Creed worked through chaos on the ensuing restart and finished the stage seventh, earning four stage points.

After pitting during the stage break, Creed restarted 16th and quickly moved forward on fresh tires. He broke into the top 10 before a caution midway through Stage Two reset strategy across the entire field. Despite being shuffled back, Creed continued to move forward in his Boulder Crest Foundation Chevrolet and finished the stage in 12th.

Creed restarted fifth for the final stage after staying out during the stage caution and remained in contention across the closing laps. He held strong inside the top five through multiple cautions and pit cycles to keep himself in striking distance as the race tightened late. A late restart allowed Creed to stay aggressive behind Taylor Gray and Austin Hill as he moved into third in the closing laps. He held the position to the checkered flag, however, securing his seventh top-five finish of the season.

“The track was treacherous, but it was super exciting and the racing itself was really challenging. I thought we did a good job getting track position, but we lost a little drive there at the end,” Creed said. “I was waiting for a mistake because we were so even, but we ultimately were able to bring it home in third for Haas Factory Team and Boulder Crest Foundation.”

41 Sam Mayer

Sam Mayer ran among the leaders for most of Saturday’s race in San Diego before an accident on lap 35 in the final stage ended his day. After qualifying sixth, Mayer quickly worked his way forward when racing resumed following a red flag. Despite a short opening segment, he advanced to the top five and collected eight stage points with a third-place finish in Stage One.

Following a pit stop during the stage break, the driver of the No. 41 Audibel Chevrolet charged from 13th back into the top five during Stage Two. Fresh tires helped Mayer post two of the fastest laps of the race as he battled through the field, ultimately finishing fifth in the stage and adding six more points to his tally.

Opting to stay out during the stage caution, Mayer took the green flag for the final stage from fourth position and appeared poised to challenge for the victory. However, contact on the lap-35 restart entering turn one caused significant damage to the No. 41 Audibel Chevrolet, ending an otherwise impressive afternoon.

“I hate it for everybody because it’s obviously not what I wanted to do. It was crunch time in one of those late-race restarts, and I just tried to be too aggressive,” Mayer said. “Thank you to all the guys at Haas Factory Team for bringing me a fast car, and to Audibel for their support all year long.”
